Red Bull Fires Up the First-ever Endurance Downhill
Mountain Bike Event at
Angel Fire, NM
ANGEL FIRE, New Mexico (Red Bull, together with Angel Fire Resort Twin Tip Nation and Bigfoot Productions, today officially announced the first-of-its-kind 12-hour, endurance downhill mountain bike competition. The event will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Angel Fire Resort in northern New Mexico. Branded “The Red Bull Burner,” the competition will be open to any and all sport, expert and pro-class mountain bike riders, both men and women. Categories will include solo, duo and team entries. Over $5,000 in cash plus prizes will be distributed to first to third place riders in each category & class.
“Red Bull has a reputation for pitting the world’s best action sports athletes against the most wicked terrain to create competitions that bring out the ultimate in human endurance, strength and tenacity,” said Michael McCormack, race director at Bigfoot Productions “The ‘Burner will an event that lives up to that tradition. Angel Fire’s trails are among the fastest and most technically challenging in North America, a fact the top riders in the world can testify to after the UCI World Cup held here in 2005. This will be an extreme challenge to find out who’s the toughest.”
The Red Bull Burner will start at 9:00am and finish in the dark at 9:00pm. Winners will be determined by total number of laps in the twelve hour period. Riding after dark will require the use of approved front mounted bike lights. Three of Angel Fire’s top bike park downhill trails will be utilized simultaneously for the event. At one end of the spectrum is a fast, World Cup-calibre race course, in between a challenging “all-arounder” and at the other end a slower, flowy “recovery trail.” All three trails will finish at the Chile Express chairlift for uphill access back to the start of the courses. The event commencement will be a mass start staggered by rider class-level.
Festivities surrounding the event will include barbecue vendors combined with beer sampling from the top brewers throughout the Four Corners area, including SKA Brewery, Steamworks Brewing Company and the Santa Fe Brewing Company. In addition, there will be live entertainment, and mountain gear/bike-related retail. Immediately following The Burner will be an end-of-season party, dubbed “The Afterburner,” featuring live music from the band Iocane out of Moab, Utah and raffle prizes.

New Mexico Local TTN Report

Local New Mexico Snow News from TTN. We do not think the snow has ever been better. This weekend some of the TTN guys will be up at Angel Fire to check out all the new power from the last storm They report 31 inch base and 14 new from the last storm. Angel Fire has a new mountain manager that refuses to lie about the snow report. We find it refreshing. Pajarito has also been dumped on, if you only have one day to ski, this is the place. They report a base of 47” with 22 inches of new snow just this week. Lowest ticket price in the state. Taos has 72” base with 23 inches from the last storm. Tonight (Thursday) we wax for free from 3:30PM to 7:00pm. Come on in. TTN will make a major announcement in the next few days. See you on the mountain.

Taos Opens Up to Snowboarding!

It has been released to Twin Tip Nation this morning that Taos Ski Valley has lifted its ban on Snowboarding effective March 19th, 2008.
This has been an on going debate for many years that now can be laid to rest.
According to the news release, "this decision is the result of careful planning and consideration" where the "timing was critical" and does not detour from the "goal of the Blake family and current management to continue the legacy of Taos Ski Valley."
So to all of our snowboarding friends out there we can finally say "See ya on the Mountain" at Taos Ski Valley.

I am sure you have heard there is snow in the North. Lots of snow! Mountains filled with snow. Snow to ski and board on.
It will be hero snow! Snow you can do no wrong on.
This much snow mixed with Angel Fire Resort and Taos Ski Valley opening up is where conspiracy theory's are born. Is there a weather machine? Who controls it? Why the cover ups??? We will never know until now!!!
Twin Tip Nation's underground connections, of which must be kept strictly confidential, have utilized their super human powers to control "the weather machine".
Hence, snow in the big NM.
Now it is your's and our job to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
That is exactly what Twin Tip Nation is going to do.
We are going up for air this weekend to Angel Fire Resort to take a much needed breath of fresh mountain air and . . .
slice through the deliciously groomed runs, dart among the powder laden glade runs and freestyle the hidden jems that lay hidden on the mountain.

Twin Tip Nation, Rio Rancho's only ski shop will offer the most unique program ever offered in New Mexico. On Saturday September 8th from 10am to 4pm Twin Tip Nation will present our Students Ski Free Program to any student that meets the following minimum requirements:
1) Student must have a current student ID (bring your schedule and ID with you) and drivers license.
2) The student is also required to have a car or family car. The car needs to be registered in the students family name.
Additional requirements will be presented when the student comes in to our TTN Shop on September 8th. Offer is limited to 200 students. TTN will keep the offer open until all positions are filled.
If the student agrees and complies with the rules of the program they will receive free lift tickets for the upcoming 2007-08 ski season. Lift tickets can be shared and are not subject to blackout dates.

Salomon Extreme Freeride Championships at Taos

The largest big mountain event in the southwest spanned 4 eventful days and TTN's own was in the thick of it.
From some of the best steeps in the country, TTN's Grady Jaramillo was droping lines with the best of them.

The Event.
Despite multiple injuries and foul weather the Angel Fire Skier / Boarder-X flew off with a breeze (pun completely intended). The wind howled all day long keeping the competitors and staff cool, collective and active . . . actively grabbing something from blowing away that is.
At the end of the day, the awards ceremony was unlike any before. Angel Fire's Marketing Department made available a conference room, supplied with tasty beverages, for us to conduct the final procedures of the event. With banners hanging, stickers lying, complementary beverages serving, mics blaring, speakers speaking, the awards were presented with Olympic grandeur - well almost.
The event was concluded when two competitors, one lucky skier and one lucky snowboarder, were hand picked by our talented help from a box of entries previously collected at registration. Each was awarded the grand prize: the skier -skis, the snowboarder - a board.
You read right! We have very limited supply of the Ninthward Comte, LT and THA. So don't wait, get 'em while we got 'em.
Plus we are shaking down the Skier/Boarder-X this weekend the 24th at Angel Fire Resort. We will be on the front side of the mountain in full swing sponsoring the event. If you're in the area come check it out and hang.

USASA Slopestyle Competition a Success!

Saturday's event started off with a dismal outlook. The course was sacked in by a thick fog, preventing one to see the first kicker with ease. However, regardless of this gloomy start banners were hung, tents where pitched, hot dogs where cooking, tunes where playing and competitors where stoked. When the hour was at hand to start the comp, miraculously the fog lifted and the event took off without a hitch and ended with swag for everyone and sweet prizes for the winners.
Major props to all our sponsored skiers, friends and family who gave a helping hand and to Angel Fire Resort for providing a sweet spot for the event. Without all of you we could not have made this event a Success!!!.

Special really big thanks to Nick, Drew, Travis our big mountain skiers. Without your help we would have had a hard time making the event go as smooth as it did.
