  • TTN Ambassador Decal Program Explained

Posted on September 28, 2011 by Team TTN

We are getting tons of questions about the program so we decided to post a simple list we hope clears up any confusion.

    • What you need to do right now.
    • What we are going to do.
      • At 7am on October 15th we will send you a TEXT and we will Tweet, Facebook and post in our blog WHERE the program will be held. (somewhere in Rio Rancho). So drop everything you are doing and get to the location with your car and $40 cash ASAP.
      • At 10am we will hand out the registration form to the people that are in line for the program. We have double the availability as last year. Bring with you $40 in cash for the administration fee.
      • The people that make it in the program must have their car with them so we can apply the decal. You can not do it yourself. No exceptions.
      • The people that do not make it in the program will have a "second chance". There will be a sign up sheet available to sign-up for future free stuff.
    • What you are going to get and when.
      • You will get 5 free lift tickets once the decal has been applied to your vehicle on October 15th.
      • In January you will receive 5 more free lift tickets IF you still have the decal on your vehicle. We will announce the date, time and location via our social media outlets and web site where to pick-up the last 5 lift tickets.
      • You will receive a total of 10 lift tickets if all conditions are met.
    • Don't do this.
      • Sell your lift tickets. If you do and our sponsor finds out, our sponsor has the right to terminate this program. This means all lift tickets will be unusable for everyone all at once. Just don't do it!
    • Space for this program is limited. It is first come first serve.
    • The TTN Gear Swap is on the same day at the same place at the same time.
      • Bring your gear that you don't use and sell it. Keep the money. That simple.
      • There will be plenty of space to showcase your gear
    • We will not be held responsible for missed or delayed text messages, missed or delayed social media posts, missed or delayed web site posts, web site connectivity issues or internet connectivity issues. It is your responsibility to connect with us and arrive within the provided location at the given date and time. There will be no rain checks.

  • TTN Ambassador Decal Program & Gear Swap Date!

Posted on September 6, 2011 by Team TTN

We have finalized a date of when we will start the TTN Ambassador Decal Program.

It will be October 15th and start at 10am. There will be double the availability from last year. That's 2x last year. Dos lotso. Zwei Mal den Raum. So no need to camp out :)

I know you are wondering, "So I know when and what time this thing will start, there's twice the amount of space, there's gonna be a gear swap, but where will I go to sign up already and get one of these babies slapped on my ride?".

Wonder no longer. We will announce "the where" one week before October 15th - the day of the event. So if you have not done so already make sure you Like us here, Friend us here, Follow us here and join our text messaging service here. And if that's not enough social media bombardment you could always subscribe to our YouTube Channel . . . here. This way you are sure to be in the know as to where to go and join the program.

For all of you that want to swap some gear on Saturday the 15th be sure to arrive at least an hour early (9am) to showcase your gear. You can bring your own table, tent, ground cloth, Euro Bungee (ok, not really) or if you don't want to mess with all that, tables will be available to rent for a very reasonable rate. However way you choose to get your gear into the hands that need it, you can be confident that his is gonna be a real swap with everyday non-commercial people exchanging goods like the good 'ol days.

On a side note, we have been getting many questions about the program and gear swap. All we can say is that all your questions will get answered at the event on 15th. But there are a few we can answer right here.

Why do a gear swap? Isn't there one already?
Yes, there is already a ski swap but if you have recently attended the swap in the past you will notice that it has become more of a commercial smorgasbord of selling goods and much less of a swap between everyday people and their gear. Because we love gear and especially the use of gear and because we are already having the TTN Ambassador Decal Program we thought . . . "Hmm, we have some gear left over from years past that does no good in storage and should be put in the hands of those who love gear. How can we do this?" Then we thought . . . "We have friends that have gear laying around too, why not provide a venue for them to sell their gear without the complications of other swaps and the competition of commercial vendors." That's when it hit us. Why not have a gear / ski swap at the same time as the TTN Ambassador Decal program? You guys are already here waiting to get signed up why not offer something to do in the meantime while you all wait.

That's when the Gear swap was born. Let's give back to the community. Let's bring back the swap of ol'. So, naturally, the next big question was where will we have this thing. I mean we gotta have room for you to swap your gear and sign-up for the TTN Ambassador Decal Program. If you were here last year you experienced first hand the mass turn out and how quickly space filled up. This year we will have more room and better organization.

So not only will the TTN Ambassador Decal program be double delicious, there will be double the room, with double the coolness and as always double the fun! Well, that's the plan at least :)

Don't wait. Get connected and be in the Know of where it will all go down!

  • A Northern New Mexico Summer Adventure

Posted on August 29, 2011 by Team TTN

In need of some high alpine living and high desert adventure we decided to head up to Taos Ski Valley and the Chama River Wilderness to do some good ol' fashion car camping, hiking, rafting and down right New Mexico exploring!

    image

    image

Our adventure began high up in the alpine mountains of Taos Ski Valley where we explored the valley and visited some off season sites like the ski area, The Bavarian and a little known lake nestled deep in the horse shoe valley called Williams Lake. Ok maybe it's not a little known lake but it was well worth the hike.

    image

The evenings in the valley were filled with the many soothing sounds of the forest while the campfire dried our damp gear from the afternoon rains and warmed our bodies from the cool night temps. It also provided the perfect environment for something white, black and golden brown . . . S'mores!

    image

Yeah, good old s'mores. But this time things were different. Things were bigger. We didn't have just any marshmallows this time. We had the super duper jumbo size marshmallows that only Campfire Marshmallows could provide. We had "Campfire Giant Roasters"! You gotta check those babies out. We found them at Wal-Mart.

Watch out! These marshmallows will fill up an entire graham cracker and a full chocolate bar with zero room to spare :)

Then it was off to the north western part of the state to the Chama River Wilderness area.

But to get there we had to travel across a diverse range of terrain and through some interesting places only New Mexico could offer.

First it was over the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge or as the locals call it the "Gorge Bridge".

Then through Carson. If you blink you might miss it.

Around Ojo Caliente. Just an FYI this place is known for its hot springs.

Through El Rito. A very quaint and rural little town. Also, close to some amazing rock climbing.

Up through Abiquiu and past the reservoir.

And then right by the Ghost Ranch, some amazing cliffs and spectacular vistas to the place we love to raft and the destination we put in on the Chama River.

    image

    image

    image

The flow was cruising at 950 cubic feet a second that day which was less than the last time we were up there two weeks ago which was about 100 cubic feet a second but we found it to be a more adrenaline pumping, technically challenging experience then before as it created a ton more rapids and obstacles. But hey, the river is a dynamic and ever changing thing and that is one of the things we love about it. There is always something different and this time proved to be no different.

Oh, smaller water crafts make the trip much more intense and amplify the experience ten fold!

After many runs through "The Gauntlet". The gauntlet? Yeah, The Gauntlet. Well, that's what we call it. It's the part of the Chama that flows by the water gauge station and the part of the river we have found to have the most concentration of rapids. After riding The Gauntlet we packed up and headed south. South to our home. South to the start of another work week. South to  the . . . Ok. You get the picture.

Thinking our adventure was over we began the journey. We were dead wrong. But wrong in a good way.

The drive back home became an engaging opera of sound and imagery. We took our seats in our mobile theater and the play began. The curtains of rain opened up and we were greeted with the sound of rain drops and the enchanting dancing, spinning and darting they performed oh so well. Flashes of lighting, the bellows of wind and the clasps of thunder were introduced signalling the start of what would become a two and a half hour display of sound and image. Lighting and thunder made battle with the sky and the children of rain were thrown about mercilessly to and fro by the wind. The remains of their bodies would collect into torrents of water amassing into a river of destruction as they would take revenge on the innocence of the earth. Mighty trees would bend at the force of the wind but would not falter and thunder would shake the ground. Lighting would appear and give light to the blind while the clouds obscured the horizon. Suddenly, the voyage was over, destination had been reached and the play concluded . . . momentarily.

With out notice it began all over again and raged on through the night.

Overall it was a great time of exploring and adventure.

So before the winter snows and colder temps are upon us and the desire to hit up an awesome trip in the Land of Enchantment is running through your blood we highly suggest the alpine valleys of Taos Ski Valley and the canyon of the Chama River.

    See you outdoors!

  • Lumpy's Burgers

Posted on August 5, 2011 by Team TTN

We stopped by this unique burger joint a few weeks ago and really wanted to let you all know the skinny on what it's all about, cause it's different.

First off, it's pretty darn good.

So here goes the story on how we discovered this little gem.

We were out and about picking up some goods recommended to us by our good old friend Craigslist. While on the south side of ABQ lunch time had snuck up on us and our tummies were letting us know.

We asked the neighborhood locals and they suggested a few places, but one name caught our attention, Lumpy's. We asked what that was. They responded and said a local burger joint up the road. So off we went to find "Lumpy's Burgers". We just love trying local favorites.

    Sure enough we found Lumpy's.

The menu was a bit different and the process a bit more.

You get a paper bag and mark what you want.

On the bag are many options to choose from like what size burger (wimpy, lumpy or plumpy) and what toppings (there's a lot), do you want a drink or shake and of course fries. We chose plumpy with mucho toppings!

Now here is where it gets unique. If you choose fries you get to pick the potato you want. Idaho or Sweet. How about that.

But that's not all. You also get to choose how you want your potato cut, skinny, chunky or skrewy. We chose chunky and skrewy :)

Lastly you give your bag, with all the marked choices and your raw fresh potato to the friendly person on the other side of the order window and wait a few minutes as they prepare your order, super fresh. Nothing's frozen!

All in all it was a delightful experience that left a memorable mark in our hearts.

So if you haven't done the Lumpy we highly suggest you get down to 5420 Central Ave Sw, Albuquerque, NM 87105 and enjoy their burgers, fries, sodas and shakes, it's Lumptastic!

Visit them online too! Lumpy's Burgers

Here's a visual of their location: 5420 Central Ave Sw, Albuquerque, NM 87105

    Oh, and their menu.

Now, go make a memorable mark in your heart with Lumpy's Burgers :)
